Seasonal Aircraft Mechanic

1) Description

  • Join VAS Fire in supporting wildland firefighting operations through safe, reliable aircraft maintenance.

  • One opening at each location: Wenatchee, WA; Chester, CA; and Redding, CA.

  • Experienced position focused on preflight and post-flight inspections, aircraft-on-ground (AOG) repairs, and standby support throughout fire season.

2) Qualifications/Requirements

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification required.

  • 3–5 years of aircraft maintenance experience, including verifiable Citation experience.

  • Experience maintaining multi-engine, turbine-powered, fixed-wing aircraft.

  • Must live locally to the location for which you are applying.

  • Ability to work independently, troubleshoot mechanical issues, interpret technical manuals, and maintain accurate maintenance records.

  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to safety.

  • Valid driver’s license; must pass a drug screening and background check.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TSA Ramp Pass and U.S. Government clearance.

  • Availability for the full fire season.

3) Responsibilities

  • Perform preflight and post-flight aircraft inspections.

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues, including AOG repairs.

  • Complete scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer requirements, and company procedures.

  • Document maintenance accurately and communicate aircraft status and repair needs to the Director of Maintenance.

  • Maintain clean, safe aircraft, tools, equipment, and work areas.

  • Remain ready to respond during standby periods, which may involve extended downtime between maintenance needs.

4) Schedule

  • Approximately six months of seasonal work, May through October.

  • Optional additional work from November through April in Rogers, Arkansas.

5) Salary

  • Approximately $300–$400 per day, based on experience, certifications, and qualifications.

  • Higher compensation may be available for candidates with greater Citation experience and/or Inspection Authorization (IA).

  • Seasonal position; not eligible for benefits.
